De 30:19 I call heaven and earth to record this day
against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing:
therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
When
our first child was born, my wife and I looked at him in awe as we considered
that in our care had been placed a real, live human being. This was both
beautiful and a little scary. This real, live human being is a choice that my
wife and I made when we married. We wanted children, and this was our first of
three sons. Each birth brought an awesome beauty, joy, and an awesome
responsibility.
Our society is cursed with what is called "Choice." Some
call it "Pro-Choice." The Pro-Choice advocates have a mentality that implies
the choice is for death, that a woman has the right to choose to kill her
unborn child. There is little mention of her choice to birth the child and
either adopt the child to good parents or to raise the child. The
dominant choice is for death.
In the book of law called Deuteronomy, Moses called heaven
and earth against Israel. Life and death were both set before Israel, and
Moses strongly urged Israel to "choose life, that both thou and thy seed may
live."
On this 33rd anniversary of the law springing
from the case of Rose vs Wade in 1973, we find that over 43,000,000 unborn
children have been murdered by doctors with the consent of their mothers, and
sometimes their fathers, also. Legally, the father has little if anything to
say about this "woman’s choice." Over 4,000 unborn children are murdered per
day in America. This is a shame and disgrace to our country. It is a
testimony to the moral decline of America.
To women who are considering having an abortion we must say
that they have as much right to choose life as to choose death. The scriptures
tell us to choose life. Saturday I watched again the film entitled "The Silent
Scream." This film shows an actual abortion being performed, and the film had
such an effect upon the anesthesiologist, the nurse, and the doctor performing
the abortion that they all turned away from abortion. This film should be
viewed by every adult who has a desire to learn more about this shameful
practice and to those who may be considering an abortion. It will change your
mind if you have a conscience.
Life is a good choice. It will soothe our own conscience,
and rightfully so. It will please God, and our nation may be saved from God’s
judgment if we do, for God has set before us life and death; let us choose
life.
