Daddy's Hands

By Ronnie Wolfe - August 22, 1989

Daddy's hands were always strong enough
To lift me on his knee.
Daddy's hands were always kind enough
To lift me up to see.

Daddy's hands worked hard to make
A living for us all.
His hands were ever ready
To answer to our call.

We just knew that Daddy's hands
Would very long endure
To help us and secure us
And to constantly secure.

But then the deadly hands of cancer
And the very claws of death
Came to Daddy's weary soul
And took away his breath.

His hands seemed weak for comfort,
And the end so soon to be;
But we knew the hand of God was there,
Although we could not see.

As we held his hands so kindly
To be a comfort to his soul,
God's Spirit so kindly took him
From our hands to make him whole.

We knew at his departing
That his hands were loosed away,
But we knew that God's hand guided him
Along th' eternal way.

God's hands are now leading him
Along the waters still,
And Daddy's being lifted up
By the hands of God's own will.

Thank you, God, for keeping him
To take him to heaven's strand.
One day I'll be there by his side
Again to hold his hand.
