Almost everyone used to collect these stamps at the grocery stores, the gas
stations, and other similar places. We would stick them in small books
until the books were full. Then we would take the filled books to a
redemption store and redeem the books of stamps for real, physical items
such as lamps, hair dryers, dishes, luggage, etc. It was a fun thing to
do. It made us believe we were getting something for nothing.
When I was a child, we did not have redemption stores in
the country, so we had to mail the books into a redemption center, and they
would send the merchandize to us in the mail--awesome, right?
When we as believers obey our Lord in good works, we are
laying up treasures in heaven where rust does not corrupt and thieves do not
break through and steal (Matt. 6:19).
When we get to heaven, it will be like going to the
redemption store. Psalm 58:11 says, Verily there is a reward for the
righteous. Of course, these rewards will be given to our Lord for his
glory!
Now, go make a good sermon out of that.
