 Knowing Things
By Pastor Ronnie Wolfe --  1/30/2006

There are some things that I already know.  There are some things I thought I knew.  There are some things I should have known. There are some things I can and do know.  Let's consider this.

Some things I already know.  I was going into a large department store here in Harrison, Ohio, called Bigg's the other day; and, as I went in the door, just inside the door I saw a lady scratching off one of those lottery tickets.  I said to myself, "I already know what the answer is, lady.  You lost."  If I were to meet 500 of these people scratching off the cards and thought this each time, I would be right 498 times out of the 500.  I already know that most people lose and do not win the prize.

Some things I thought  I knew.  Sometimes I think I know things but do not know them as well as I think I do.  I remember purchasing a kitchen hutch and brought it home.  I spent over an hour putting it together.  When I got it together, I realized that I had not done it correctly.  I then went back and read the instructions and found that I had put things together in the wrong order.  I thought I knew how to do the job, but I did not.

Some things I should have known.  I should have known back in 1970 when I drove through Lancaster, Kentucky, at 45 miles per hour that I would get caught.  Of course, I did not realize that I was breaking the law, because I did not notice the 25 MPH sign at the outskirts of the city.  I just kept on going 45 MPH from the last sign I saw.  Then I was stopped by a policeman, and we drove out into the country to wake up the judge so I could pay the fine, which I had to borrow from the landlady, who was with us.  I should have known.

Some things I can and do know.  I know that I am saved, and no one can convince me otherwise.  1 John 3:2  Beloved, now are we the sons of God. . .   I am God's son now, and I know it.  I also can and do know that I am going to Heaven when I die.  Joh 6:47  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.  This I know also: that I have everlasting life, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be, but WE KNOW that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is (1 John 3:2).  Some things I already know, some I think I know, some I should know, but  . . . one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see. (John 9:25). Also, . . . I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day. (2 Tim. 1:12).

Isn't is wonderful to know these things!  Jesus came to earth, lived a perfect life, and died for my sins.  He went to the grave and then resurrected to life on the third day.  If you do not know then, you must.  To be born again and become a new creation, you must know this–this is the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Then you will have the knowledge of the truth and be set free by it through faith in Jesus Christ.  We are the children of God by faith in Jesus Christ (Gal. 3:26).
