Upon The Demise of Pope John Paul II

 By Pastor Ronnie Wolfe
April 3, 2005

He poured himself out to his glorious church.
He spent and was spent for their good.
His church is stronger, more peaceful for sure
As the pope wrought out what he could.

He blessed the whole world with one sweep of his hand,
He smiled and gave blessings galore.
He preached of the Virgin and honored her well
And brought sinners straight to her door.

He visited countries that once were his foes
And brought them close to his flock.
Now they praise him and honor his name
As he is their spiritual rock.

He had servants divine, and they marched in a line
To show glory and pageantry there.
He sat on his throne and shared it alone,
To grace the infallible chair.

He lifted his voice to the heavens above
To bring down God’s loving hand.
The people fell prostrate to his sovereign call,
And worshiped in his holy band.

This ageless divine became old in his years.
He suffered with patience and care.
His people all mourned and all were forlorn
That their sins he could no longer bear.

He received a great prize in his followers’ eyes.
He received their worship quite well.
He fell upon sleep as the masses did weep,
And his soul dropped quickly to Hell.
