I
walked a fairly straight line
So I thought.
I was the epitome of a Christian
So I was told.
I was born
good and Godly
In my mind.
I never did anything really wrong.
Friends would tease.
I knew I
believed in God
And I did.
Devils also believe in God
And they tremble.
The lies I
told myself every day
Couldn’t keep me safe.
The façade I put up around myself
Soon fell to the ground.
I found myself
as I truly was:
Alone and dirty,
Dirty from sin black as ebony--
Utter darkness.
Surrounded by
my own filthy rags
Full of myself
And completely void of the Holy Spirit,
I felt such a need!
A need to be
forgiven, to be cleansed!
To be rid of myself:
How I longed to be full of the Holy Spirit.
I felt such a need.
