Tell About Heaven In 2007
January 7, 2007 – Pastor Ronnie Wolfe
One of the greatest privileges in life is to be able to
introduce Heaven to people, to talk about this wonderful place, to invite people
to come with us to this eternal city where we will live forever with Jesus
Christ.
I hope in this message to persuade you and me to be more
faithful in telling others about Heaven. We cannot tell others about Heaven
unless we do it the right way:
WE CANNOT TELL ABOUT HEAVEN IF THERE IS NO SUCH PLACE
John 14:2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if
it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you
unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
Heb 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped
for, the evidence of things not seen.
Now, since there is such a place, we must be faithful to
tell people about it.
They will not hear about it in school.
They will not hear about it at work
They will not hear about it in the movie theater or at a dance or in most
homes today.
We must take the opportunity to tell others about heaven, because there is
such a place, as Jesus said.
WE CANNOT TELL ABOUT HEAVEN WITHOUT THE BIBLE
The Bible is the only book which deals with this great
subject of Heaven.
No other book comes close to the subject of Heaven.
Many books tell about discoveries of ingenious men and
women who have discovered many wonderful things.
Many books can tell you where every place is on the
earth, how big a country is, how high a mountain, or how deep an ocean; but
it cannot tell you anything about Heaven.
The Bible is the only book which gives us any information
about Heaven, because God reveals this to us in His own book, the Bible.
So, don’t speak about Heaven from what you have heard,
but read what the Bible says about it, and tell others about this Heaven in
the Bible, not the Heaven of man’s making.
The word Heaven is used 313 times in the Old Testament
and 238 times in the New Testament–that’s 551 times in the entire Bible.
Isa 8:20 To the law and to the testimony: if they
speak not according to this word, [it is] because [there is] no light in
them.
WE CANNOT TELL ABOUT HEAVEN WITHOUT JESUS CHRIST
Joh 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the
truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
If we talk about Heaven without talking about Jesus
Christ, then we have misled the person we are telling.
Jesus is the way to Heaven, the truth of Heaven, and
the life in Heaven.
He prepared this place for us, and he will be coming
back to receive us into that place that he has prepared, which is Heaven.
1Ti 2:5 For [there is] one God, and one mediator
between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
We cannot get to Heaven without a mediator, a person to
reconcile us to God, and that is Jesus Christ.
Jesus was our mediator when he lived a perfect life and
died a perfect death.
He took our place when he died on the cross and became
our Redeemer, paying for all our sins to bring us to God.
So, if you are going to tell about Heaven, you must
become familiar with Jesus Christ.
WE CANNOT TELL ABOUT HEAVEN WITHOUT THE GOSPEL
1 Cor. 15:1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the
gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein
ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached
unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first
of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins
according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose
again the third day according to the scriptures:
This is the good news of the Gospel: the death, burial
and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
No other religion has a message like this. It is the
only message that can save.
Ro 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ:
for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to
the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
Paul was not ashamed of the Gospel, and neither should
we be.
It is not Paul or Peter or any of us who are the power
of God unto salvation, but it is the Gospel itself, the death, burial and
resurrection of Jesus Christ.
This Gospel brings salvation to everyone who believes
in it, not everyone who does good or is baptized or joins a church, but
everyone who believes the Gospel.
Mark 1:15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the
kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
WE CANNOT TELL ABOUT HEAVEN WITHOUT FAITH
Ro 1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God
revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by
faith.
If we are going to tell others about Heaven, then we must
tell them about faith in Jesus Christ.
But we must also have faith in Jesus Christ before we can
effectively talk about Heaven.
Remember that the righteousness of God is revealed from
faith to faith, from the faith of someone who already has it to another
person who may trust the Lord, and then he will have the same faith.
Therefore, we must tell about Heaven.
This is not the easiest job in the world, but it is the
right job for each one of us who believe in Jesus Christ. It is an important
job for our time, because many are turning away from "the faith" and
teaching people other ways to get to Heaven besides by grace through faith
in Jesus Christ.
