One of the members of First Baptist Church called me and
told me a story about her little grandson who had come to church for the
first time.
The family had often spoken my name as Brother Wolfe, so
the youngster said, "I want to shake hands with Brother Wolfe." That he did.
Then, after shaking my hand, he went to his grandmother
and said, "Where is the other man?" His grandmother said, "What other man?"
He said, "Jesus." He wanted to see the other man.
Out of the mouths of babes comes wonderful truth. Behind
every pastor stands another man. This man is Jesus. If he is not
there with us, we can not be effective as pastors.
This was a wonderful reminder and an encouragement to me
that Jesus is right there with me when I am preaching the word of God.
Is Jesus with you? We should always be on the lookout for
"the other man." Jesus said in Hebrews 13:5, "... I will never leave thee,
nor forsake thee."
