The Sound of Grace

I heard a sound from Heaven's shore,
A sound I had not heard before.
A sound that came not to my ear
But made my sinful heart to fear.
It drew my heart to hear God's word,
The sweetest sound I ever heard.
It thrilled me just to hear its sound
And gave me comfort all around.
My sins fell down from off my soul
Like the winds blow by or the billows roll,
The sound so sweet in its given place;
The sound I heard was the sound of grace.
