Touch Me
By Ronnie Wolfe
Touch me with
your mind as conception plans your form.
Touch me with your heart, beating fast before you're born.
Touch me with your movements; send surprise within my womb.
Touch me with your small intent to visit with me soon.
When you are
born, my waiting heart will feel the joy of you.
You'll touch me with your tender cry; I'll wrap you in pale blue.
Forgive me as I touch you from your head down to your feet,
But you must know that you have touched my heart and made me weak.
Touch me now
with welcome cries to wake me through the night.
Touch me, and I'll do so much to make things be just right.
I'll wash your face and change your clothes and put you on the bed;
Then you can touch me with your eyes as you are gently fed.
You'll grow,
and when you touch me, my heart may seem to break
From things that you may do in life that make my sad heart ache.
But I will stay to give you hope and tell you of your wrong;
And when you've touched me with your tears, the heartache is not long.
But tender
love will visit us as through the years we go,
And you will be the better yet to live by friend or foe.
For I will teach you of the Lord and His strong hand to guide,
And He will touch you with His love, and with you He'll abide.
And when this
life shall take me to the shadow known so well,
I'll touch your heart with memories, and then your heart can tell
That touching is the only thing that keeps a soul in tune
With facts of life and dying, too; we'll be together soon.
